How I Got $1656.36 in Debt

I've never had a PS2, and besides using the display consoles in WalMart, and this one time at my cousin's house, I had never really played one until last month when I got my PS3 (if that even counts). The reason I never got one is because I used to be a pretty big Nintendo Fanboy, and I even drew this terrible picture (according to deviantArt) in March of last year. Since then, I got my 360 (last November, actually), which, being said Nintendo Fanboy, I was pretty skeptical about. Turns out I absolutely loved it, and still do.

I'd been contemplating getting a PS3 for a while, especially after I found out how great the 360 was, and then after getting a PSP last July and loving it, too, and then after Metal Gear Solid 4 came out and everybody said that it was one of the best games of the year, I knew I had to get one. So, I was "surfing the web" (I hate that term) for PS3 prices, because I had heard something about a PS3 price drop, and I came upon someone's blog post that said that anyone who was planning on getting a PS3 with MGS4 should get it now, because in a few weeks, the MGS4 bundle would be gone, and then Sony would be selling a really bad PS3 with no backwards compatability. Backwards compatability was one of the main reasons I was getting a PS3 in the first place, so I knew I had to get a PS3/MGS4 bundle ASAP.

Up until this point, I had been using a debit card that my mom gave me to buy stuff. Since it was a debit, she would use it to distribute allowance and stuff, so I could buy stuff off the internet. I told her about my "I have to get it NAO" delimna, and to my surprise she was like, "Okay.", and I was like, "WTF? Why? What in the world has possessed you to just let me go out and guy a $600 PS3 just like that? I don't even have that much on my card." And she was like, "You got a credit card, too, so you can use that.", and I said something like "But you know I'd be going in debt, right?" and she said "Do you really want this?" and I said "Yeah, and I need to get it now if I'm getting one" and she said "Matthew, some things are worth going in to debt for.". Long story short, we went to almost every GameStop in the area until we finally found it.

I ended up getting the PS3/MGS4 budle and a used copy of Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and it totalled up to right at $600 after tax and everything. I ended up paying about $400 off, but added about $200 back, so I was still $400 in debt. As you know, the other day, I got a computer, and she was basically the same way as she was with the PS3. It's extremely weird. I honestly don't think I've ever seen her so...understanding about anything like this. We went out and got the computer, and it totalled up to $1256.36. So now I'm up to my ears in debt. My mom actually likes it because she's making at least $200 payments, so it's helping her credit.

This story started out being about the good and bad of the PS2, but I didn't realize the story of how I got my PS3 was so long, so I think I'll just end it here for today, and maybe continue tomorrow, or possibly later today.
